You will be providing sound technical support on Network Enabled Army equipment as part of Defence Equipment Management Organisation (DEMO) team with the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF).

This role provides technical advice on the full life cycle of current and future deployable equipment; this could include anything from radios, to communication and networking equipment.


A typical day may include:

  • Leading, developing and coordinating the delivery of technical plans, user requirements, testing, evaluation, reporting, data and documentation;
  • Providing effective technical advice, answers and presentations to Fleet users and stakeholders;
  • Investigating problems and troubleshooting faults, and coordinating disposal of equipment; and
  • Contributing to Fleet and wider DEMO projects as required.

The formal title for this role within NZDF is Senior Technical Advisor NEA.

You will be a great communicator with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.

You will be motivated to seek out any information not provided to you, an ability to see the bigger picture of how everything fits, great problem solving skills and clearly articulate technical information to non-technical audiences.


Ideally, you will also have:

  • 8 to 10 years' experience within engineering, electronics, RF communications or a related field with a minimum of Level 4 National Certificate;
  • Previous exposure to military terminology and/or logistics;
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment;
  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all work;
  • An understanding of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and asset management; and
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft suite and SAP or similar logistics software.

Network Enabled Army (NEA) is a Ministry of Defence (MOD) lead program to modernise the Communications and Command and Control capabilities within the NZ Army.
