Rangitoto School is a small rural school with a big heart in the Waitomo District. We have 31 children currently enrolled, two full time teachers and a part time teacher aide, making up an excellent teaching team. The size of our school allows the nurturing of a close and caring community which creates a strong sense of pride and belonging.

Our school board is really excited about the opportunity to welcome the right person into this special community. We are looking for someone who leads from the front by being:

  • An enthusiastic, inspirational leader who has a collaborative approach when implementing new initiatives, and creates opportunities for everyone to fulfil their potential in a positive environment.
  • A strong communicator who is approachable with an open-door policy and can build and maintain relationships with students, staff, board, families, community and local schools.
  • Experienced with a proven track record, up to date with current teaching practices including assessment and information technologies
  • Has the capacity to manage and drive school-wide development. Finance and property management experience is preferred but not critical.
  • Supportive through continuing to strengthen the ethos of the school and foster tuakana-teina relationships, and mentoring of beginning teachers or teacher aides.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic with a desire to be community focused and actively involved in wider school events.
  • Respectful of the traditions and things that make us Rangitoto proud.

Our beautiful school buildings and expansive surroundings are a real asset to the community and provide a special learning environment. A three-bedroom school house is situated onsite and this will become available in 2025.

Our school is situated 10 minutes east of Te Kūiti, which has everything from lakes, beaches, mountains, bush walks, caves and cities within a 2-hour radius.

The position is available term 4, 2024.
