The opportunity
The AA is an iconic and much-loved membership organization built on values of integrity and trust.

Our priority is to reach HS&E maturity across our business through strengthening our operational excellence throughout as well as driving our HS&E education and culture.


Supported by a team of talented HSE professionals, your goal will be to lead and deliver the HS&E strategic plan in our diverse workplaces encompassing vehicles, garage workshops, retail stores, contact centres and offices.

Collaborating with leaders and other enablement functions, you will be responsible for growing HS&E capability and knowledge, from Board and leadership levels through to people at the frontline.


In this role you will be working with the executive leadership team on what best practice HSE looks like and on strengthening HSE Board reporting, knowledge and understanding.

Based in the Auckland CBD, you will report to the Chief Legal & Risk Officer.

Your background


Your extensive HS&E leadership experience has given you a deep understanding of what is high priority, where the main areas of risk are within a business, and what a modern, sensible Health & Safety culture looks like.

In addition, this experience will enable you to identify what lens needs to be on around environment and sustainability as we work to reduce our impact on the environment and in empowering our people and encouraging our members to make sustainable choices.


With progressive changes to responsibilities for Directors and senior leaders, you will know what ongoing training and education will be needed at these levels.

You will have proven success in improving and implementing strategies within a complex working environment.

You will be highly organised and well equipped with the tools, templates you need to educate and develop the capabilities of your team and influence peoples to get the desired HS&E results.

With your senior level experience, your ability to be strategic and execute a robust roadmap is key.

Having implemented these in the past and seeing these through with good measures will see you being successful in this role.
