About the role
Here is an opportunity to bring your significant aviation experience and contribute to a team that provides guidance to industry in certification and licensing matters.
New airlines setting up come to us for the certification process and we also renew operator certificates every 5 years.
Various approvals are essential as an airline changes its operation or introduces new aircraft during that period. We also certificate foreign airlines coming to New Zealand.You'll also be involved in safety matters, risk management, technical papers, and do some flight testing on behalf of the Director.

You have an interest in the regulatory side of aviation and want to keep close to what you enjoy.
If you can take a step away from the flying side and look towards a different level of the aviation business and provide guidance and decisions for ever improving safety and security of our aviation world then we need to talk.

The Civil Aviation Authority National Office is usually located in modern offices opposite the Wellington railway station.
As a result of remedial earthquake strengthening work that needs to take place, our national office staff are currently working remotely and in temporary offices in central Wellington.
This position is based in Wellington but there are limited opportunities to work in Auckland /Christchurch.
Due to border restrictions, we are only able to consider applicants who are eligible to enter New Zealand or those currently residing in NZ or who have NZ Citizen or Permanent Residency status.
This offer of employment is therefore conditional upon you being vaccinated against Covid-19 and maintaining full vaccination status throughout the course of your employment.
