We are looking for a Senior Policy Manager to join and lead the Learning Support policy team.


The Learning Support policy team develops policy to improve the education experience and outcomes for these learners who face additional barriers to reaching their full potential.

Your work will contribute to advice on realising an inclusive education system in NZ, including learning supports that work for ākonga Māori, disabled learners, and learners with high support needs.

The work is both stimulating, and extremely rewarding.

Mōhou ake | About you
We would like to hear from you if you have proven policy management experience, and
- thrive in a fast-paced policy environment
- have proven intellectual and professional leadership experience, especially as it relates to working with ākonga Māori, disabled learners, and learners with high support needs
- have proven ability to develop and lead multiple complex and sensitive cross
  • Ministry policy projects or programmes of work, to deliver on the Ministry's outcomes
  • Have established strong working relationships across key government agencies to ensure effective management of crossgovernment programmes.


You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori.

You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
