Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

An exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Integrated Operations centre (IOC) team on a full or part time basis has arisen. You'll be based at Hutt Hospital attending clinical areas encountering a mismatch in demand versus the resource to match. You'll temporarily slot into their team and provide support through delivery of excellent clinical assessment and nursing care - no two shifts will be the same Role demand will vary and the flexibility to undertake alternative nursing tasks within the IOC and wider hospital is essential. This is a rostered and rotating position with consideration given to reasonable shift preference and requests whenever possible.

Service Overview

The Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) team includes the Duty Nurse Managers, causal/bureau/allocation nursing and healthcare assistant staff, Transit and Variance Response nursing and the National Travel Assistance service. Together these groups of staff work towards positively supporting patient care, risk, flow and overall site management after hours. We are a motivated team that strive to do our best for the community we serve.

Moū - About you

You will be a skilled and enthusiastic nurse with at least 4 years of acute care experience, ED and/or other critical care experience will be an advantage. Most importantly, you will bring a positive attitude and energy to the role, with a keen willingness to support our hospital teams and the patients they care for in times of increased pressure, a "can-do" and kind approach is a must. You will be confident using IT systems and possess a desire to support our Care Capacity Demand Management (CCDM) program.

The following skill set is desirable, but candidates with a keenness to develop these will also be considered:

NZRC Level 6

CVAD/cannulation/phlebotomy/NIV/high-flow/ventilator skill
