At Whakaata Māori, we embrace our role as a waka, driven by our passion to preserve and promote Māori stories, language, and culture.

The Digital Editor is responsible for leading Te Ao Māori News digital offer online, the app and social media.
He kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

As the Digital Editor, you will:

  • Ensure digital content is consistent with Whakaata Māori's objectives.
  • Actively manage the delivery of stories that require additional attention/resources.
  • Quality check stories before publishing across our platforms.
  • Work with Multimedia Journalists and others to create & publish content throughout the day across all platforms.
  • Use metrics to maximise SEO and ensure editorial is offered in the best possible way.

He kōrero mōu ake | About you

As Digital Editor, you should possess:

  • Journalism degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years of journalism experience
  • 2+ years of digital journalism experience in an editor role or equivalent
  • Strong editorial judgement, digital news savvy, storycentric, videofocused
