About the role

As an Associate Analyst, you will support the delivery of a wide range of pricing and modelling solutions that enable our customers to deliver value to members and the organisation. You will support the 'Managers' by delivering high-quality analysis and insights to meet customer needs, enabling business leaders in their decision-making.

Key accountabilities:

Pricing:
  • Monitor portfolios and carry out regular price reviews for consumer and group segments according to our pricing strategy.
  • Provide analytical support to wider pricing initiatives and strategies.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with key customers to understand their needs and effectively communicate the data and insights to support smooth pricing implementation.
  • Review and maintain complex statistical models to enhance Southern Cross' pricing function and risk selection processes.
  • Communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences and build positive relationship with stakeholders across the business.
  • Drives continuous improvements to our current pricing and modelling process including documentation, process controls and knowledge share.


Modelling:
  • Engage with the business to identify their needs to delivery a technical solution (through analytical work or rely on advanced modelling technique) to solve the business problem in a pragmatic manner.
  • Hand on development and maintenance of complex statistical models, delivering robust models and monitoring frameworks that ensure the ongoing efficacy of the models for their intended purpose.
  • Stay up to date with recent research and developments and share ideas for new exploratory analysis.


About you

You are energetic, passionate and able to work cross-functionally across different areas of analytics. Ideally you have:
  • Business related qualifications (mathematics, statistics, finance) and/or learning demonstrating expertise, curiosity, a thirst for knowledge and growth.
  • Strong programming and coding skills in one or more statistical modelling packages, preferably in R.
  • Technical competency complemented by curiosity and a thirst for knowledge and growth.
  • Keen to pursue in actuarial or insurance pricing field.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
  • Can do attitude in an unfamiliar context.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
