About the Role

Are you passionate about animals and love creating exceptional experiences for pet parents? Join our warm and supportive team in beautiful Havelock North as a Veterinary Nurse & Customer Care superstar.

This part-time role (25 hours per week with a rotating 1:3 Saturday clinic) offers a unique opportunity to combine clinical nursing skills with customer-facing responsibilities, supporting both the wellbeing of our patients and the smooth running of our busy clinic. This is a split of approximately 2/3 customer care and 1/3 nursing.

You'll play a key role in supporting the wellbeing of our patients while ensuring the smooth running of our busy clinic. You'll be joining a proactive and caring team that values collaboration, growth, and compassion - not just for animals, but for each other too.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Be the friendly face that welcomes clients and their pets, creating a warm and caring first impression.
  • Keep things running smoothly by managing appointments, calls, emails, and digital communications with efficiency and empathy.
  • Support our vets in delivering outstanding care — assisting with surgical procedures, anaesthesia, and patient recovery.
  • Help keep the clinic humming by maintaining accurate records, managing stock, and ensuring everything is ready for the day ahead.
  • Guide and educate pet parents on treatment plans, post-care, and nutrition, while confidently recommending products that support their pets' wellbeing.

Skills and Experience

We're looking for someone who's as passionate about animals as we are and brings:

  • New Zealand working rights.
  • A Diploma of Veterinary Nursing or currently studying to complete the Diploma
  • Whether you're newly qualified or bringing experience with you, we'd love to hear from you.
  • An interest or confidence in anaesthesia and patient monitoring, with a willingness to learn and grow in these areas.
  • Great communication skills, helping you collaborate well with your team and explain care plans clearly to pet parents.
  • A shared passion for providing top-quality care and strengthening the connection between pets and the people who love them.
