Student voice and representation

The Victoria University of Wellington Students' Association and Te Aka Tauira (VUWSA) is a vibrant and progressive non-profit organisation – fully independent from Te Herenga Waka Victoria University. Over 19,000 Victoria University students have access to VUWSA's diverse range of student services, including an independent Advocacy Service, student representation, student media and a variety of events and welfare activities.

The purpose of the Postgraduate Student Representation Coordinator is to provide professional and proactive advocacy and advice to and for postgraduate students. You will be responsible for coordinating and supporting postgraduate student representation, providing behind the scenes support to empower student representatives and ensure that they can properly engage with their roles, overseeing appointment processes and providing relevant training, you will advise student representatives on university policies and procedures in the postgraduate space, as well as their impact on the student body.  Where applicable, your advisory capacity will be informed by relevant research and consultation.

Our advocacy team is made up of you and one other team member who support the undergraduate area.

Also, you will assist our amazing executive when needed with postgraduate policy and submission support.

Qualifications and Experience

•       Experience in, and a passion for, education related work

•       Experience or understanding of working in a volunteer-based environment

•       Strong verbal and written communication skills

•       Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines

•       A strong team player

•       Computer literacy with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

The role is 38 hours per week and is a new position that will start in 2026.
