Role Overview

We are seeking an
experienced Power BI Developer
with a strong background in
data migration and dashboard development
to support a major transformation initiative for a
leading Telco in New Zealand
. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of migrating legacy reporting platforms to modern BI solutions and delivering scalable, insightful dashboards that drive business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the
    migration of legacy BI/reporting platforms
    to Power BI, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and performance optimization.
  • Design, develop, and deploy
    interactive dashboards, reports, and visual analytics
    using Power BI.
  • Collaborate closely with
    business stakeholders, data engineers, and solution architects
    to gather requirements and translate them into robust BI solutions.
  • Build and optimize
    data models
    and
    DAX queries
    for improved scalability and performance.
  • Implement
    row-level security (RLS)
    , data refresh schedules, and governance best practices within the Power BI Service.
  • Conduct performance tuning, testing, and deployment of Power BI assets.
  • Provide
    technical guidance and mentorship
    to junior developers and analysts within the BI team.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in
    Business Intelligence and Data Analytics
    .
  • Minimum 5 years of
    hands-on Power BI development
    experience.
  • Proven experience
    migrating reports from legacy BI platforms
    (e.g., Tableau, QlikView, Cognos, etc.) to Power BI.
  • Strong expertise in
    DAX
    ,
    Power Query (M)
    , and
    data modeling
    (Star/Snowflake schema).
  • Advanced
    SQL
    skills and experience handling
    large, complex datasets
    .
  • Familiarity with
    Azure Data Services
    (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake) preferred.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across business and technical teams.

  • Must have valid work rights in New Zealand (
    NZ Citizen, Permanent Resident, or valid Work Visa
    ).
  • Immediate or short notice availability preferred.
