About the role

We are seeking experienced Welders/Fabricators to join our client's team based in Napier, Hawke's Bay.

You will be working in a clean, well-organised manufacturing environment doing welding and fabrication work. Due to the nature of the industry, there may be the requirement to do work outside of Hawkes Bay.

Employment details


• Permanent full-time position.


• Minimum 30 hours of work guaranteed each week.


• Pay rate: $30.00 per hour.


• Normal hours and days of work will be discussed at the time of offer. From time to time, you may be required to work outside of these hours depending on project needs.

About you


• Self-motivated, reliable, takes pride in craft and finish.


• Team player but also able to work independently with minimal supervision.


• Strong communication and time-management (able to meet deadlines, prioritise job flows).


• Safety‐aware: follows workshop procedures, quality checks, tool maintenance.


• Willingness to work extended hours when required.


• Ownership of work: from start to finish, ensuring quality, taking responsibility for outcomes.

You should have


• High quality of workmanship.


• Experience in finishing & polishing stainless steel.


• Ability to understand & follow detailed shop drawings.


• High standard of quality control.


• 3+ years of experience.

Key tasks


• Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements.


• Selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock.


• Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.


• Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering.


• Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.


• Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting.


• Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.


• Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions; cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding.
