School Nurse

We are seeking to employ an experienced Registered Nurse, who is passionate about youth health and making a real difference in student well-being within our busy, vibrant school communityHillcrest High School is a diverse co-educational secondary school in Hamilton, Waikato. We have approximately 1760 students with 180 teaching and support staff combined.This is a permanent part time position working two days a week from 8.30am to 3:30pm, term time only. The start date is flexible.The position as a School Nurse will include tasks such as:Ensuring the Health Centre is a welcoming safe space for studentsAssessing all students and staff who require medical treatment and first aidPromoting all available health services, liaising and referring as requiredReviewing new students health records to identify health needsCompleting HEeaDSSS assessments and refer any at risk studentsAssist students to make responsible decisions regarding their own healthAssist with medical emergenciesMaintain documentation and update register of all visitsProvide updates to the Pastoral Care team as neededUpdate, maintain and replenish first aid kitsMaintain accurate details within our Student Management SystemThe successful applicant will have:A current NZ Annual practising certificateA minimum of 5 years nursing experience, with previous experience working with young people, preferably in a school settingWill be comfortable working autonomously in a culturally appropriate and safe mannerEmpathy, tolerance and diplomacyThe ability to remain calm and in controlAttention to detailThe ability to work both independently and as a teamStrong communication and interpersonal skills – verbal and writtenExcellent computer skillsA positive can-do attitudeThe ability to maintain confidentiality per School policies, procedures & MOE guidelinesYou must be eligible to work in New Zealand to apply for this position.
