The Operations Manager reports to our Chief People Officer and works closely with our Programme Manager, People and Culture todeliver on our people strategy and operational priorities.
As the largest kura in Aotearoa, Te Kura enrols up to 30,000 ākonga each year and employs between 800-1,000 kaimahi spread across the motu. Our environment is dynamic and complex, operating across multiple collective agreements and supporting a diverse, highly dispersed workforce. We need someone confident leading people, navigating complex operational environments and supporting a strong, connected team to deliver consistent, high-quality people and capability advice and outcomes.
In this role, you'll lead the delivery of our core operational People and Capability functions:
- Generalist Advisory
- Payroll and administration
- Recruitment and onboarding
- Learning support
You'll ensure these functions run smoothly and consistently while providing leaders and kaimahi with timely, practical advice across the employee lifecycle.
Through strong leadership and operational oversight, you'll embed future-focused, kaimahi-centred practices and help grow capability across the People and Capability Operations team.

We're looking for someone with:
- A genuine passion for coaching and supporting others around building their capability.
- Proven ability and experience in People and Capability Advisory.
- Strong and influential interpersonal, negotiation and facilitation skills.
- knowledge and experience in Recruitment, Payroll and supporting managers through complex workplace relations issues.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to apply them in a way that helps achieve the best possible outcomes for our kaimahi.
- Experience in organisational change methodology would be desireable.
