Support Worker

• Based in Takaka
• Permanent part time - 12 hours per fortnight
• Shifts are Friday 9am-3pm (additional shifts may be available to cover leave)
• Role begins 2 February 2026

Mō te tūnga | About the role

We are looking for a Support Worker to join our Supported Living team. You will work one-on-one with a person with an intellectual disability, supporting them to live well in their own home and to work towards their goals and aspirations. This is meaningful and rewarding work where your creativity, initiative, and care can help make each day enjoyable and purposeful for the person you support. You'll play an important part in empowering them to build independence and live the life they choose.

This may include supporting them to:

• Build and strengthen daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting
• Stay connected with family and friends and develop new connections
• Take part in community activities (eg. sports, arts)
• Explore employment options and navigate the job-seeking process
• Work through social challenges and access community services
• Make informed decisions and maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

Previous relevant experience is preferred, but what matters most is that you bring a range of life experience and an open-minded, supportive attitude to the role.

You should also bring:

• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to support people to make their own informed decisions
• Confidence working independently and problem-solving in complex or changing situations
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to share information clearly and in an easy-to-understand way
• Confidence using technology in your day-to-day work
• The physical fitness needed to support someone in a range of activities
• A Full NZ driver's licence
