Chef

Provisions of Arrowtown is looking for a passionate and experienced Chef to join our talented kitchen team. This is a permanent, full-time position offering a minimum of 30 hours per week (typically 35–40), with rostered shifts that may include weekends and public holidays.

We are seeking an organised, ambitious chef with strong technical skills and creativity, who can deliver fast, high-quality meal service while showcasing seasonal and local produce. Baking or pastry experience is highly appreciated. For the right candidate, there is also the opportunity to step up into senior responsibilities when required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 3–4 years' experience as a chef in a busy café or restaurant
• Recognised cooking qualifications (or equivalent experience)
• Knowledge of food safety standards and food control plan management
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience in ordering, stock rotation, and inventory control

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes to a consistently high standard
• Assisting with menu development, with a focus on contemporary, seasonal dishes
• Managing stock, ordering supplies, and minimising wastage
• Maintaining strict food safety, hygiene, and workplace health & safety standards
• Supporting and mentoring junior kitchen staff
• Taking responsibility for the kitchen in the absence of the Senior Chef
• Incorporating local Central Otago ingredients and New Zealand flavours into dishes
