Our Land and Property Information Team develops, operates, and governs the Council's Core Property System. We support the systems and processes that underpin Wellington City Council's rating income and ensure the integrity of land and property data across the city.
We are looking for a Senior Advisor, Land & Property Information to play a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the city's land and property data. This is a specialist role for someone who enjoys detailed technical work, problem-solving, and supporting sound decision-making across the organisation.
Āu ake mahi | What you'll do
As our Senior Advisor, you will be the trusted expert for land and property policy, technical analysis, and strategic advice. You'll work closely with colleagues across the Council, elected members, external partners, property owners, and developers to ensure Wellington's property data is accurate, compliant, and well-governed.
Key work includes:
- Researching resource consents and setting up survey subdivisions in the Core Property System
- Ensuring accurate valuation subdivisions and maintaining the integrity of the District Valuation Roll
- Supporting the citywide revaluation process and reconciling complex property data
- Providing technical information that supports rating accuracy
- Interpreting and applying addressing standards and resolving complex street addressing issues
- Preparing reports on street naming and advising councillors, mana whenua, and other stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, legislation, and data governance requirements
- Proactively analysing data quality and collaborating with internal teams and contracted valuation providers
- Mentoring colleagues and uplifting capability across the organisation
What you'll bring
We're looking for someone with:
- A degree in Land Surveying, Property Valuation, Land Law or Geography plus 5+ years' experience, or 10+ years equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience working accurately with land-based data
- Strong communication skills, able to interpret and explain complex information clearly
- Proven relationship-building skills with a wide range of stakeholders
- Sound understanding of New Zealand's legislative framework for land and property data
- Experience coaching or mentoring others
- Strong problem-solving skills and an eye for detail
