Job Description

The Opportunity 

Fulton Hogan is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior HR Advisor to join our Wellington Transport Alliance team.

In this dynamic and fast-paced role, you'll play a pivotal part in shaping people practices across a complex Alliance environment.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in HR advisory roles, with experience in employment relations, performance management, and employee development. You will be the go-to person for our Delivery Leads and People Leaders, providing comprehensive and professional HR advice and guidance, ensuring HR best practices are adhered to and risks are mitigated.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading end-to-end recruitment for waged positions, and support the recruitment for salaried position
  • Supporting managers with the onboarding and induction of new employees, including delivering face to face inductions as required
  • Developing and implementing the Annual Wellbeing and Events Programme, in collaboration with the Wellbeing Committee
  • Facilitating compliance training and professional development, including bookings and maintaining training records
  • Coaching Delivery Leads and People Leaders on HR and people management processes, providing relevant and up to date employment relations advice
  • In addition to the above, you will support the management of complex people issues, including serious misconduct, performance management, restructures, and dispute resolution processes such as grievances and mediation.

About you

To be successful in this role you will ideally have:

  • A HR or Business Management qualification
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a generalist HR Advisor role
  • Experience operating and delivering across a variety of HR functions
  • Experience providing coaching and advice at tier 3 (Delivery Lead / People Leader) level 
  • Sound understanding of New Zealand employment legislation 
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment where change is constant
  • Experience working in a construction or road maintenance environment
  • Experience working in an Alliance environment, ideally within the Civil industry

The Wellington Transport Alliance (WTA) is a collaborative partnership between NZ Transport Agency, Fulton Hogan, and WSP. Together, the alliance is responsible for managing the maintenance and operations programme for the state highways and roading networks across the Greater Wellington Region.
