Position Purpose:

As the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, you will manage and coordinate the implementation of the North Harbour Rugby Union's Athletic development plan in consultation with the Head of Athlete Development to meet the needs of Men's Academy athletes.

Head of Athlete Development, Head of High Performance, Head of Pathways and Development, NPC and Pathway Coaches, Academy Manager, Program Providers/Staff, CEO, other North Harbour Staff, Athletes.

External

NZR, Super Franchises, other Provincial Unions, Coaches, Athletes.

Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach - Men's Academy

Accountabilities and Deliverables:

• Primarily responsible to lead the preparation, implementation and delivery of the Athletic Development for the North Harbour Men's Academy, in conjunction with the Head of Athlete Development
• Assist the overall Strength and Conditioning delivery for the men's academy and high-performance group Athletic Development programs
• Assist the Strength and Conditioning delivery for the North Harbour NPC team during the NPC campaign
• Ensure all assigned athletes are prescribed training programs specific to their physical, positional, and personal needs. With this comes a sound understanding of the demands associated with rugby and its positional groups
• For all assigned athletes/groups, coordinate and undertake testing, assessment, and monitoring in line with expectations of North Harbour, and NZR requirements
• Create and drive an environment that promotes high standards, internal competition, and strives for excellence
• Teach, coach, and educate athletes on topics relevant to strength and conditioning, athletic performance, and overall behavioural and athletic readiness for professional rugby
• Collaborate with the head and assistant coaches of any of the teams that you are assigned, to ensure all player needs are met and catered for, and all training sessions and game day preparation is executed to a high level
• Manage and maintain the Gym facility to a high standard and ensure authorised use, in accordance with North Harbour Rugby H&S requirements

Experience / Qualifications:

Essential:

• Strong communication and excellent coaching/mentoring skills
• An understanding of the game of rugby and overall player development
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
• Work competently as a member of a team
• Ability to take a logical, structured approach to planning and completing workloads
• Exceptional organisational, planning, and facilitating skills
• Comprehensive delivery and presentation skills
• Ability to operate at a strategic, as well as operational, level

Desirable:

• Degree or diploma in sports science or equivalent
• Easily establishes rapport with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
• Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office Programs
• Experience with Statsports GPS and Teambuildlr software
• Experience within rugby environments at Academy or High-Performance level
