About your team/Ko te tīma

You will be part of the Communications team providing change communications advice and support to an organisational programme helping to embed the WorkSafe strategy and the shifts we are making.

This is a high-performing, collaborative team responsible for delivering strategic and operational communications across WorkSafe. This includes internal and external communications, management of our intranet and website, social media channels, media engagement, and providing communications support to the Office of the Chief Executive and the Senior Leadership Team. The team also works closely with the Minister's office to ensure alignment and responsiveness in our public communications. As part of this team, you'll be joining a group that is passionate about making a difference and committed to supporting WorkSafe's mission through clear, purposeful, and impactful communication.

About the role/Ō te tūranga

The role will support strategic change across our Health and Safety Reforms Programmes. Using proven change communications management, you'll design and deliver communication strategies that drive measurable impact and behavioural shifts. This role requires a strong focus on strategic thinking, outcomes, and communication - the ability to translate complex change into clear, engaging content through a range of channels.

You will report to the Communications Manager, with a dotted line to the programme.

This is a 12-month fixed term or inter agency secondment role to support the work of the programme.

What You'll Do/ Ko tōu ake mahi

• Deliver clear, audience-specific communications for internal and external stakeholders.

• Advise leaders and governance groups on communication strategies to build trust, reduce resistance, and enhance change leadership visibility.

• Develop and execute engagement plans with delivery leads, focusing on awareness, adoption, and behavioural outcomes.

• Collaborate other Communications team members to ensure alignment with broader organisational communications and activity.

• Build change leadership capability by coaching leaders and managers on effective communication practices.

Support programme storytelling, reporting, forums, and other tasks as required to highlight impact and maintain momentum.

What You'll Bring / Ko ngā pukenga ōu

• Proven experience in change management with structured frameworks (e.g., ADKAR, CLARC, Nudge Theory) and communication best practices to drive outcomes.

• Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.

• Excellent relationship management skills and experience working with diverse groups across an organisation.

• Solid understanding of current communication tools, digital channels, and trends in change management.

• Knowledge of public sector environments and a flexible, adaptable mindset that models positive change behaviours.

Salary range / Awhe utu

As part of our remuneration framework the full salary range for the position is from $111,204 to $146,382.  Note: KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contribution is additional to/on top of your base salary.
