Funeral Director

Operating as a part of our team at Paterson's Funeral Services in Ashburton, you'll guide our families through their journey with us. This is a full-time role that plays a vital role in supporting families during difficult times and ensuring the highest standards of care and professionalism. As a 24 hour 7 days a week business, you will be required to work on-call one week in every three.

About the role:

  • Arranging and coordinating all aspects of funeral services, including meeting with families, liaising with our mortuary specialists on the care of the deceased, and coordinating with third-party providers
  • Ensuring the respectful and dignified handling of the deceased at all times
  • Providing compassionate and empathetic support to grieving families throughout the funeral process
  • Maintaining detailed records and adhering to all relevant legal and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborating with a team of funeral professionals to deliver a seamless and comprehensive service
  • Continuously improving processes and procedures to enhance the overall experience for families

About you:

Comprehensive training will be given in all industry related elements; however, we are looking for someone with the following attributes:

  • Some life experience - understanding and empathy for people will serve you well
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide compassionate support to grieving families
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care and professionalism
  • A genuine passion for the funeral industry and a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others
  • Physically fit and mentally resilient
  • You'll need to be reasonably technically savvy and able to multitask well to ensure information is captured accurately
  • Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as part of an on-call roster
