Red Stag TimberLab is seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Services Manager to lead the maintenance, engineering services, asset management and support operations for our state-of-the-art Engineered Wood Products (EWP) manufacturing plant in Rotorua.
This is a pivotal role within the Red Stag group, offering the opportunity to drive asset management and operational excellence across a high-tech facility producing Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), Glue Laminated Timber (GLT), and Finger Jointed (FJ) structural products.

About the Role
As the Engineering and Operational Services Manager, you will be responsible for the machine uptime, reliability, safety and optimisation of the state-of-the-art EWP manufacturing facility. You will lead the maintenance team and supporting third party providers, while assisting the Operations Manager with operational effectiveness.
You will assist in driving continuous improvement, productivity, quality, and cost optimisation while upholding our commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage engineering services, maintenance operations, and support functions across the EWP plant.
- Oversee preventative and reactive maintenance programmes to maximise plant uptime.
- Coordinate contractor and fitter activities, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
- Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes.
- Support plant expansion and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership across mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Champion digital asset management and maintenance tracking systems.
- Deliver operator training and promote a culture of proactive maintenance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve breakdowns and optimise performance.

- Proven experience in engineering services, maintenance leadership, or operations management.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Hands-on capability in mechanical and/or electrical systems.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Effective communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
- Competent in digital maintenance systems and documentation.
- Able to work autonomously and lead a team with initiative and accountability.
