Senior Protection Engineer

Reporting to the Engineering & Design Manager, you will be pivotal in the design and development of our network protection systems, as well as aspects of automation and data communications. In this role you will:
- Provide design expertise on new build and brown-field substations and distribution projects, technology innovations, and solution studies.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies, undertake fault investigations, and offer engineering support to other business teams.
- Lead and review designs, develop, and support our protection, automation, and communications systems.
- Take a Project Engineer role on key projects.
- Maintain high quality technical specifications and standards.
- Drive improvements in business processes, network operation, equipment functionality, and safety
About you:
We would love to hear from you if you are a skilled engineer with a passion for protection systems and a commitment to excellence. You will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- 5+ years in protection design and analysis for electrical distribution or transmission networks.
- Experience with network modelling tools such as PowerFactory or PSS SINCAL.
- Technical knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong planning skills to ensure priorities and tasks are completed on time.
In addition, the following experience would be desirable:
- Network communications technology, including IEC 61850 and DNP3
- Automation systems in electricity networks
- Protection systems asset commissioning
- Computer Aided Design
