Kia mahi ngātahi mō Pōneke mō tōna āpōpō | Working together for Wellington's future

In preparation for the exciting reopening of Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui Central Library in mid-March 2026, we're looking for passionate and community-minded individuals to join our Library whānau as Customer Service Librarians.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape how we connect with our communities in new and meaningful ways. Te Matapihi will be a space for everyone – a place where each experience opens a window to knowledge, connection, and a sense of belonging. It will be a place where people can learn, cultures and communities can connect, and everyone can enjoy access to special public spaces.

As a Customer Service Librarian, you'll assist people from all walks of life to access a wide range of digital and physical services, collections, information, and social connection opportunities. You'll work collaboratively, often without direct Team Leader supervision, so initiative, adaptability, and teamwork are essential. This is a hands-on role that requires personal resilience, physical fitness, and a genuine desire to support our diverse communities.

We have multiple roles available with a variety of rostered hours to suit different lifestyles and commitments. Whether you're looking for part-time or full-time work, we encourage you to apply and select the roster that interests you in the application form.
