Senior Android Developer - 6 Month Contract - Auckland Hybrid - IMMEDIATE START

We are urgently seeking a highly skilled and immediately available Senior Android Developer for an initial 6-month contract opportunity with a strong likelihood of extension, working with a leading enterprise client in Auckland.

This role requires a full-stack Android specialist who can hit the ground running, utilizing standard tools and best practices to contribute to high-impact mobile applications.

Role Details

  • Engagement: 6-month initial contract (strong chance of extension).
  • Start: ASAP.
  • Location: Auckland (Hybrid model – flexible onsite requirements).
  • Rate: Highly competitive market rates available.
  • Work Rights: Must hold valid working rights for New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end development, testing, and deployment of features for high-traffic mobile applications.

  • Design and implement features using Kotlin and standard architectural patterns (e.g., MVVM).
  • Develop high-quality user interfaces and manage complex application state.
  • Collaborate closely with UI/UX teams, backend engineers, and product managers.
  • Ensure high performance, responsiveness, and reliability of the application.
  • Write comprehensive unit and integration tests, and participate in code reviews.
  • Manage dependencies and configurations via Gradle.

Experience And Skills

  • Commercial experience in native Android application development.
  • Deep proficiency in Kotlin (Java experience is secondary).
  • Strong understanding of established architectural patterns like MVVM and the Android lifecycle.
  • Expertise in asynchronous programming (Coroutines, RxJava, etc.).
  • Proficiency in dependency injection (e.g., Dagger/Hilt).
  • Experience consuming RESTful APIs and handling data persistence.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of Git and collaborative development workflows.

Soft Skills

  • Ability to integrate immediately into a fast-paced environment with minimal ramp-up time.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
