General Practice Nurse, 0.8FTE. Whangarei

After 20 years we are losing our practice nurse to retirement, and so we are looking for another experienced primary health care Nurse, who has the desire, confidence and competence to work in a sole nursing position supporting our rural general practice on the outskirts of Whangarei.
About our Practice:
Hikurangi Surgery is a small rural general practice approximately 40 minutes north of Whangarei central, encompassing a small team dedicated to supporting the differing needs of our patients, who come from all walks of life, cultures and economic status.
About the Role:
As a sole practice nurse, you will manage the day to day nursing requirements of the practice, including managing stock, medical equipment and vaccinations as needed. The role is envisaged as 4 days per week, with actual hours during those days open to negotiation. You will support the needs of the GP, who from time to time maybe a locum, and support the smooth and efficient running of the practice. This is a role that requires a practice nurse who is experienced and comfortable in working under pressure, adept at problem solving, and has strong interpersonal, analytical and organisational skills.
Who are we looking for:
An experienced personable RN, who is able to demonstrate awareness of the various legislation, codes of practice and relevant regulations that ensure effective patient and practice safety. You will be able to demonstrate your commitment to continuing professional development to enhance clinical practice that will have a positive impact on the development and delivery of services. You will have a commitment to ensuring accurate documentation in accordance with clinical guidelines and support others to maintain appropriate records.
Key Requirements for this role:
- Registration as a General/Comprehensive Nurse with a current practicing certificate.
- Experience as a Diabetes nurse
- Certification as Nurse cervical screen taker – essential requirement
- Authorised Vaccinator Certificate – essential, that enables Childhood/Adult vaccinations
- Current CPR cert at least level 4 or higher
- CVD/Diabetes management experience
- Venepuncture experience
- Women's health / cx screening/ breast screening
- Experience in management of older people's health, age appropriate vaccination, screening,
- Mens health, age appropriate prostate screening (PSA blood)
- Cold chain management
- Equipment sterilisation
- Medical supplies ordering and management

- At times at the Doctors request you may be required to complete referrals on his behalf.
