Why Join PTNZ?
If you want to be part of a dynamic small team that helps guests fulfill their bucket lists while creating some epic memories of your own, then keep reading At PTNZ, we're a close-knit group of travel enthusiasts who champion good-hearted banter, big ambitions, and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
The Role: Tour Guide / Private DriverThis is not a cookie-cutter shuttle job. As a Tour Guide / Private Driver, you'll be the face of Black Robin — greeting guests at airports, guiding them to hidden gems, and ensuring each journey is as memorable as the destination.
Some trips are short and sharp — airport to lodge. Others are full-day explorations, cultural tours, or multi-day itineraries crafted by our bespoke travel team. In all cases, you're expected to deliver exceptional service, punctuality, and a safe, polished experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Guided Touring: Confidently host guests on journeys around Northland (and beyond), offering engaging, informed commentary tailored to the audience and itinerary.
- Private Transfers: Deliver seamless, comfortable transfers between airports, lodges, and attractions with professionalism and care.
- Client Experience: Offer a calm, friendly, and polished presence — ensuring clients feel welcome, safe, and well looked after from pickup to drop-off.
- Vehicle Presentation: Maintain your assigned vehicle to a luxury standard at all times (interior, exterior, fuel, cleanliness).
- Itinerary Support: Liaise with our bookings team and luxury lodges to ensure every detail is confirmed and communicated.
- Flexibility & Reliability: Be prepared for early starts, late finishes, changing plans, and last-minute additions — all handled with a smile.
- Storytelling & Hosting: Know when to speak and when to give guests space — balancing great local knowledge with the intuition of a natural host.
About You
- Tourism Experience: At least 1–2 years working in guiding, hosting, or transport. Experience with high-end clients is a major bonus.
- Impeccable Driving Record: Full clean NZ driver's licence required. P-Endorsement preferred (or must be willing to obtain).
- Confident & Personable: You have the confidence to host a couple or a group — knowing how to build rapport and hold space for all types of guests.
- Professional Standards: You present well, communicate clearly, and take pride in delivering a five-star experience.
- Local Knowledge: Good working knowledge of Northland's cultural, historical, and natural sites. Willingness to learn more is key.
- Flexible Schedule: Available for work across weekdays, weekends, public holidays, and peak season (December–February, including Christmas/New Year).
- Tech Comfort: Comfortable using a smartphone for navigation, itinerary updates, and messaging with dispatch or clients.
Location & Availability
- Based in Northland — preferably in or near Mangawhai, Kerikeri, Paihia or surrounds.
- November Start – training and onboarding at the end of October
