We are seeking a proactive, compassionate, and reliable Attendance and Sick Bay Officer to join our dedicated team at James Hargest College This is a crucial role focused on promoting high levels of student attendance and punctuality, which are fundamental to academic success and student well-being.

You will be the first point of contact for absence-related queries, working diligently to monitor, track, and follow up on all student absences. Your ability to analyse data, communicate effectively with parents and staff, and implement support strategies will be key to reducing persistent absence and fostering a culture where every student is present and ready to learn.

You will lead a first aid team covering Sick Bay. You will require good communication skills, a high level of cultural responsiveness and a calm approach to a varied range of questions and situations.


The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • Proven experience in an administrative or professional role, ideally within a school environment.
  • Excellent IT and data management skills, with the ability to accurately use Management Information Systems and the Google Workspace
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills—the ability to be empathetic yet firm, and to manage sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • A strong understanding of the importance of attendance regulations and the issues affecting student attendance and well-being.
  • The resilience and initiative to work independently and manage a demanding workload.
  • A current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one. Proven ability to remain calm and effective when under pressure or dealing with emergency situations.
