Cable Jointer

At Northpower, we power communities by delivering essential electricity and infrastructure services across Aotearoa. We're currently looking for a safety-conscious and technically skilled Cabling Jointer – Standover to join our team and support critical civil and utility projects.

This role is ideal for someone with solid experience in cable jointing who is confident overseeing third-party works around our underground assets to ensure safety, compliance, and quality.

Responsibilities:

-Overseeing third-party civil and construction activities near or around Northpower's underground network

Acting as the on-site representative to ensure all work complies with safety and technical standards

Providing guidance and support on cable jointing requirements and best practices

Identifying and mitigating risks to underground assets

Liaising with contractors, clients, and internal teams to ensure clear communication and safe outcomes

Conducting inspections and documenting site activities in line with compliance requirements

Experience:

• Proven experience in cable jointing or underground electrical work
• A strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards
• The confidence and authority to stop work when risks are identified
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong understanding of utility protection practices and underground service identification
• A current driver's licence (Class 1 minimum) – Class 2 or WTR endorsements are a bonus
