Product Owner

Epsom, New Zealand Bidfood Limited Full time

We're expanding our team and looking for three Product Owners, one to join each of our domains: eCommerce, Relationship Management, and Integrations & Data.

BidOne builds the digital platforms that power Bidfood businesses globally. A homegrown story with humble beginnings, our technology now powers a multi-billion dollar business across 20+ countries. Chefs, hospitality managers, sales teams and suppliers rely on our tools to place orders, manage relationships, plan menus, and run their businesses smoothly.

If you enjoy bringing structure to complex problems, collaborating closely with engineers and designers, and shaping the work that teams deliver, this is a great opportunity to build your product career in a supportive environment.

The role

Our Product Owners are an essential bridge between engineering teams and their product roadmap. They work closely with product managers and UX to translate the plan into actionable work. They help teams deliver work on time that creates real value for Bidfood businesses and their customers. Your focus will be on clarity, alignment, and enabling smooth delivery.

What you'll do:

  • Work with Product Managers to understand the roadmap and translate into clear, prioritised work
  • Own the backlog - defining and refining items so the team has clarity on the what and why
  • Identifying risks or blockers early and helping the team resolve them
  • Support in discovery activities to validate ideas and ensure we're solving the right problems
  • Work with stakeholders across BidOne to keep teams aligned and on target

About you

You don't need to be an experienced Product Owner — this role is ideal for someone with a BA, delivery, or product-adjacent background who's looking to step into product. We'll support you to build a strong product mindset.

You'll bring:

  • Around 2–3 years' experience in software or IT, working with delivery teams. Or someone with solid commercial or customer experience with a interest in software applications and drive to effect change.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Logical, analytical thinking and confidence in breaking down complex work
  • Ability to manage competing needs and make evidence-based decisions
  • Curiosity about users, systems, and how products fit together

Experience with agile methods and backlogs is helpful but not required.

Research shows that women and people from under-represented groups are less likely to apply unless they meet every requirement. If you're excited about this role but don't meet 100% of the criteria, we want to hear from you

Reasons to work with us

Working at BidOne means joining a team that values practicality, curiosity, and continuous improvement. You'll be supported by experienced product leaders and have plenty of room to grow.

We offer:

  • Hybrid working and hours flexibility (we're in office Monday/Tuesday/Friday)
  • Clear pathways to develop into more senior product roles
  • A supportive, friendly culture that values work/life balance
  • Competitive salary and staff benefits
  • Annual learning budget

We're opening applications over the holiday period and our review/interview process will begin in mid-January.
