Peer Support Worker – 30 Hours per Week (Auckland)
Organisation: SafeMan SafeFamily (SMSF)
Location: Auckland
Hours: 30 hours per week
About Us
SafeMan SafeFamily (SMSF) is a peer-led, professionally supported community dedicated to helping men and women become violence-free, ensuring the safety of their families and communities. Unlike traditional programs, SMSF offers personalised support based on the needs of the individuals seeking help, for as long as they need it.
The men are supported through three phases, "Uncover, Discover, Recover" where they are encouraged to reflect on the trauma they have experienced and their use of violence and its causes. They learn what they can do about it and put their learning into practice (e.g building healthier relationships).
Core to SafeMan SafeFamily's work is the understanding that peers and mentors who genuinely understand the perpetrator's perspective can help engage them in the journey, making them more likely to complete programmes and remain violence free.
