Due to significant growth, we are seeking 30 motivated and reliable individuals to join our installation team as Solar Panel Installers.
The Role
As a Solar Panel Installer, you will be a key member of our field team, responsible for the physical installation of solar energy systems. Your work will directly contribute to a sustainable future for New Zealand. While we provide full training on solar-specific products and techniques, we require candidates with a solid foundation in trade skills.
This role focuses on the structural and mechanical aspects of solar installation. No electrical work is required, as all prescribed electrical tasks are completed by our specialist registered electricians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and install solar panel mounting systems (racking) on various roof types.
- Securely attach solar panels to mounting structures, ensuring structural integrity and weatherproofing.
- Follow technical diagrams and layouts to ensure accurate and efficient installation.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete installation tasks.
- Work collaboratively with the team to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols, particularly when working at heights.
Requirements & Experience
To be successful in this role and to meet the criteria for an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV), applicants must have a minimum of two years' relevant work experience.
While direct solar installation experience is not essential, we are seeking candidates with a strong background in a related trade. Your experience should demonstrate a substantial match with the core tasks of this role.
We strongly encourage applications from individuals with 2+ years of experience in trades such as:
- Roofer: Experience with roof structures, flashing, and weatherproofing.
- Carpenter / Builder: Experience with framework, structural attachments, and reading plans.
- Construction Worker / Hammer Hand: General construction skills, experience with tools, and working on building sites.
- Glazier / Aluminium Joiner: Experience installing frames, windows, and ensuring precise fittings.
- Scaffolder: Expertise in working at heights and erecting structures.
- Mechanical Installer or Fitter: Experience assembling and installing mechanical components.
Key Skills:
- Proven ability to use hand and power tools competently.
- Physically fit and comfortable with working at heights in various weather conditions.
- A strong understanding of workplace health and safety.
- Ability to work well within a team and follow instructions accurately.
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
