Assistant Store Manager – Timaru

Love surf, retail, and leading from the front? We're looking for an Assistant Store Manager to join the crew in our Timaru store

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with retail management experience who's passionate about surf/skate culture and ready to take the next step in their career with one of NZ's leading surf retailers.

Our ideal candidate is confident in leading a team, has a high standard of customer service, and is passionate about creating an epic in-store experience. You'll support the Store Manager with daily operations, merchandising, and team development, all while keeping the vibe fun and customer-focused.

We're after someone full-time with retail management experience who's ready to roll up their sleeves and jump into a fast-paced, hands-on role. In return, you'll join a passionate team with a love for the surf lifestyle, get staff discounts on the gear you love

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Store Manager in the day-to-day running of the store
  • Leading, motivating and inspiring the team to deliver top-level customer service
  • Contributing to recruitment, training, and team development
  • Helping manage visual merchandising and maintaining a high standard of store presentation
  • Handling store administration tasks
  • Stepping up to lead the store when the Manager is away

You are:

  • A retail superstar with at least 1 year of team leadership or management experience
  • Passionate about people, retail, and delivering exceptional customer service
  • Skilled in merchandising with an eye for presentation
  • Confident in your communication and ready to lead from the front
  • Surf or skate-savvy (or keen to learn)
  • Flexible and reliable, with the ability to adapt and respond as needed
  • Available to work across peak retail periods including public holidays and summer

Starting: Early November

Availability: Sunday - Thursday (hours fluctuate during peak season)
