The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Building Foreman to join our team on a large-scale development project. Initially, this role will involve hands-on carpentry work to assist in delivering key stages of construction. As the project progresses, the role will transition into a leadership position, overseeing a crew of approximately six builders to ensure quality workmanship, productivity, and safety standards are maintained on site.

This is a full-time position based at The Pitau site in Mount Maunganui.

Key Responsibilities:

Carpentry & Site Work (initial phase):

  • Carry out high-quality carpentry work in line with project plans and specifications.
  • Support the completion of structural framing, fit-out, and finishing tasks.
  • Work collaboratively with the site team to meet project milestones.

Leadership & Supervision (as role transitions):

  • Lead, co-ordinate, and supervise a crew.
  • Allocate daily tasks and monitor progress to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure all work meets company and industry standards.
  • Work closely with the Site Manager and other subcontractors to maintain workflow and communication across trades.
  • Uphold strong site safety standards, ensuring compliance with company HSE policies.
  • Support training, mentoring, and development of team members.

About You:

  • Qualified Carpenter (NZ Trade Certificate or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in commercial construction.
  • Strong practical carpentry skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience (preferred).
  • Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Sound understanding of site safety requirements and best practices.
  • Full NZ driver's licence.
