Key Responsibilities – Irrigation Technician

Install, operate, and maintain irrigation systems across farm, orchard, or nursery sites, including drip lines, sprinklers, pivots, and manual watering systems.

Diagnose and repair irrigation issues such as leaks, blockages, pressure fluctuations, damaged pipes, or faulty emitters to ensure consistent and efficient water delivery.

Monitor soil moisture and plant water requirements daily, adjusting irrigation schedules and application rates to support optimal plant growth and reduce water wastage.

Conduct routine inspections of pumps, valves, filters, meters, and controllers, identifying maintenance needs and ensuring equipment remains in safe working condition.

Program and calibrate automated irrigation controllers to reflect seasonal changes, crop needs, and operational priorities.

Keep detailed logs and maintenance records, including daily water usage, system checks, repairs, and parts replacements for compliance and reporting.

Assist with irrigation layout planning for new planting blocks, greenhouse extensions, or upgraded infrastructure, ensuring system designs support productivity and water efficiency.

Install new irrigation infrastructure, including pipelines, pumps, filtration units, and fittings, working with management to meet project timelines.

Maintain and clean all irrigation tools and components, ensuring materials are stored correctly and equipment longevity is maximised.

Follow strict health and safety procedures when handling tools, chemicals, pumps, and electrical components, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.

Work collaboratively with growers, managers, and contractors to ensure irrigation activities align with farm operations, crop schedules, and production plans.

Support general horticulture or nursery tasks during busy seasons, contributing to teamwork and overall farm productivity.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $29.66 – $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
