Are you a friendly, welcoming person who enjoys helping others and making their day a little easier? Join our team at the West Coast Regional Council as aCustomer Services Officer and be the face and voice of our Council.

We are looking for someone who loves engaging with people, providing clear and helpful information, and delivering a professional, positive experience every time. This role is at the heart of our operations, supporting both our community and our teams with essential administrative and financial processes.

What you will be doing:

  • Greeting visitors and helping with enquiries in person, by phone, email, and online, ensuring everyone feels welcomed and supported.
  • Maintaining a tidy and inviting reception and public spaces.
  • Supporting internal teams with administrative tasks, meeting coordination, and office logistics.
  • Assisting with staff travel and accommodation bookings and providing backup support to our finance team as needed.
  • Helping ratepayers with enquiries and supporting the integrity of our Rates Information Database.

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in customer service, ideally in local or regional government.
  • Confident handling of cash and financial transactions.
  • Excellent communication skills and a warm, professional approach.
  • Strong administrative skills, with attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • A collaborative team player who can balance multiple tasks while maintaining a positive, helpful attitude.
  • Full New Zealand driver's licence.
