About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga
E ngā rau ringatira, nau mai, haere mai. E kimi ana mātou i tētahi tangata e kaingākau ana ki te ao Māori, otirā, e whai pūkenga hoki i te mahi Kaupapa Whakahaere.
We are on the lookout for a Programme / Project Manager who has skills and experience in the delivery of Kaupapa Māori or culture-based initiatives to lead the delivery of our Te Ao Māori Programme.
As Kaiwhakahaere Kaupapa, you'll maintain the momentum of our mahi in relation to our Te Ao Māori Programme and oversee the design and delivery of the initiatives outlined for the 2025/26 financial year.
Our programme contributes to our Strategy 2030 goals, so you will play a critical role in
- Ensuring that the mahi delivered meets the expectations of the organisation, its members and volunteers,
- Ensuring the mana and integrity of the kaupapa itself is maintained.
You'll work alongside the Pou Ārahi and our Project Management Office which will provide you with both cultural and project support. Your ability to navigate complexity, manage senior stakeholders, and bring people together will be key to delivering outcomes that matter.
This role is based in Wellington; however, we are open to considering candidates outside of this location. Some travel may be required to support engagement activities and the delivery of programme initiatives.

To be successful you will have:
- Programme Delivery: Experience as a Project Manager or relevant work experience delivering a Kaupapa Māori or other culture-based initiatives in a large organisation.
- Complex Delivery: Ability to navigate and deliver in complex evolving environments, demonstrating high EQ, strong problem-solving skills, adaptability and resilience.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Proven leadership capabilities to guide and motivate leaders and teams, a calm collaborative communication style that brings others on the journey and ensures effective delivery regardless of geographic location
- Stakeholder Management: Experience in managing and communicating with senior stakeholders, peers, and team members, ensuring alignment, and managing them to deliver outcomes.
- Vendor Management: Experience in working with external vendors and internal teams to deliver the desired business outcomes.
- Programme Planning and Execution: Experience in developing comprehensive and pragmatic programme plans; identifying and managing risks, issues, dependencies, and assumptions; programme reporting (financials, progress trackers) ensuring successful delivery of business outcomes
