Enliven is a not-for-profit service providing aged residential care to older people in the lower half of the North Island. Our Enliven residential services create age-friendly communities where people are happy and thrive, regardless of their age or ability. Kapiti Cottage offers day programmes to Elders bringing them together in an environment that offers stimulating and enriching activities and support which meets their individual needs and interests.

Mō te tūranga - About the role

Our permanent team are experienced and dedicated to providing a high quality experience for our Elders. There are times when the team may need additional support to cover leave or special events or busy periods and as a result we are looking for an additional Recreation Officer to join the team on a casual basis.

As a casual Recreation Officer, you will work alongisde the permanent team to plan and facilitate individual recreation plans for our Elders, as well as deliver the day to day recreation programmes. This involves running daily activities with our team, which includes a number of regular volunteers, planning the social calendar for the day service and supporting our Elders to pursue their interests. You will encourage Elders to maintain their independence and maintain connections with their community.

The key aspects of the role involve the delivery of a day service delivery that responds to individual Elders needs, maintains brain health and provides a rich and diverse experience.

Mō koe - About You

You will have experience working with Elders and be passionate about the wellbeing of older people. You will be enthusiastic but patient; well-organised, with great interpersonal skills. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect. We are looking for someone with:

• Previous experience in a Recreation or Diversional Therapy role, or similar background
• A Level 3 NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing and experience supporting Elders with dementia
• Understanding of person-centered care and meeting individual support needs
• Ability to listen to people and work collaboratively within a team
• Full, clean New Zealand driver's license

You must be comfortable with working in an environment where no task is too big or too small, as Kapiti Cottage is a small team who work collaboratively and who are not afraid to roll up their sleeves. You will be comfortable driving a passenger van, as we provide daily pick up and drop off services to our Elders.
