Risk Advisor, Data Insights

We're looking for a data-savvy Risk Advisor who's passionate about turning data into clarity and high-quality insights and reporting, strengthening risk practices, and providing data oversight that supports sound decision-making across all SNZ entities. In this role, you'll help uplift our Chief Risk Office analytics capability, risk reporting, and oversight frameworks - ensuring we have the right information, presented the right way, to guide governance, challenge effectively, and support strong customer and commercial outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Support the shape and delivery of a data-driven Risk Data Strategy that strengthens reporting and oversight across SNZ.
• Deliver timely and quality risk-focussed data analytics to stakeholders
• Partner across the CRO team, and wider business where appropriate, to support projects, uplift analytics capability and influence quality risk decisions.
• Use data analytics and visualisation to assess processes, validate controls and highlight key risk observations.
• Assist with preparing high-quality second-line risk reports and insights for senior leaders, committees and Boards.
• Support components of the CRO annual oversight plan, ensuring timely, evidence-based outcomes.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure early, effective and trusted risk advice.

What You'll Bring

• Relevant data qualifications or a tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business or Finance
• Financial Services or Insurance background highly regarded
• Practical knowledge or experience of insurance risk management and control processes
• Experience in the use of tools such as IBM OpenPages and Cognos, Collibra, Tableau, Atlassian Jira and Confluence, Microsoft Excel and Word is desired
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex data, risks and insights in a clear, concise and influential way to a range of stakeholders.
• A proactive, detail-oriented approach with the confidence to challenge, problem-solve and continuously improve risk reporting and oversight processes.
