Production Operator - Tube

Autobend Ltd is a high-tech manufacturer specializing in product design, profile cutting, sheet and plate bending, tube bending and light fabrication services. Dealing with all types of steel, aluminium, and other engineering materials we service a wide range of industries including the agriculture, aquaculture, aeronautical, marine, construction, hospitality, and automotive sectors across New Zealand.

We have an important role to fill at our at our busy production facility, 15 Vulcan Place, Middleton, Christchurch. We are looking to employ a capable person, or provide full training to a suitable applicant who will strive to meet our company's customer focused vision.

The person required needs to be physically fit as lifting is involved, be able to fit into our existing team environment, can work autonomously and have a passion to ensure we achieve our high-quality standards. An exceptional attention to detail and ability to read engineering drawings is essential. The ideal candidate would display commitment to meet our health and safety requirements, with the ability and motivation to meet deadlines and dispatch schedules.

You would be predominantly working with steel, stainless steel and aluminum tubular materials.

Duties may include but not limited to;

  • Cutting, using various machines and methods
  • De-burring and finishing
  • Ring rolling and radius forming
  • End forming
  • Drilling
  • Production stock control
  • QA quality assurance checking
  • Other general engineering workshop tasks

With future growth, the opportunity for involvement in high precision aerospace / marine instrumentation tubular parts, using CNC machinery, would become available.

Full training will be given to the successful candidate but any of the following attributes would be an advantage:

  • Experience in a workshop environment, sheet metal, tube or similar industry
  • Good mathematical skills, especially with geometry and angles
  • Proven work history, good work ethics and career development goals
  • Ability to meet deadlines and assume responsibility
  • Understanding or experience with various QA systems and processes
  • F (Forklift safety certificate/license)
  • Good hands on skills and experience with engineering tools and methods
