Bay Venues …. Haven't heard of us? Not to worry; I bet you have heard of some of the venues we own or operate – the iconic Mount Hot Pools, Baywave, or Mercury Baypark to name a few. As the kaitiaki of 20+ facilities in the Bay of Plenty, we proudly offer a range of activities and experiences intended to put a smile on the dial of our community.
About the Role
As a Swim Teacher, you'll deliver fun, engaging lessons to swimmers from beginner level through to highly competent school-aged students. You'll teach both in and out of the water and bring genuine energy and care to the learning experience.
This is a part-time position with room to grow — and no prior experience is needed. BaySwim provides all training.
There is also an optional opportunity to train as a lifeguard and pick up lifeguard shift hours.
Key Dates
- Interviews completed by: 14 December
- Interview includes: 1-hour in-water trial shadowing current teachers
- Paid Training: 27–30 January (9am–5pm at Baywave)
- Start Date: 2 February 2026
About You
We're looking for someone who is passionate about teaching, great with kids, and confident in the water.
You will have:
- Excellent communication and people skills
- The ability to engage children and create a positive, fun learning environment
- A genuine belief that every swimmer is valued, no matter their level
- A love of being in the water
- Legal right to work in NZ
Desirable (not required):
- Experience as a swim teacher or coach
- Strong technical coaching skills
