Our Timaru store is a vibrant part of the local community, with a dedicated team of volunteers and loyal customers who love finding second-hand treasures. This casual role is ideal for someone flexible, reliable, and ready to jump in and support the team when needed.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity at our Timaru SPCA Op Shop for a:

  • Casual Op Shop Assistant
  • Casual Hours as required to cover leave, busy periods, and weekends

Key Responsibilities

  • Sort, price, and merchandise donated goods following SPCA guidelines.
  • Keep the shop tidy, welcoming, and fully stocked throughout the day.
  • Deliver warm, helpful customer service and assist with sales.
  • Accurately handle cash and support daily banking processes.
  • Assist in guiding and supporting volunteers during your shift.
  • Follow all health & safety procedures and SPCA policies.

ABOUT YOU

You're enthusiastic, adaptable, and enjoy variety in your work. Whether you're sorting stock, helping customers, or stepping in for a shift at short notice, you're always ready to help and happy to be part of a cause that makes a real difference for animals.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in retail or customer service preferred.
  • A flexible and reliable approach to work weekdays, weekends and short-notice shifts.
  • A positive attitude and great communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physically able to carry out manual tasks such as lifting and sorting stock.
