As the Head of Finance for the New Zealand operations, you will lead the financial strategy and operations of a key subsidiary within a globally recognised industry leader. My client is a global market leader in their field within the industrial sector who are known for their commitment to excellence. Reporting to the CFO based in Australia, as Head of Finance, you will work closely with the General Manager and senior leadership team to drive financial performance, shape strategic direction, and ensure robust governance.

Description

As the Head of Finance for the New Zealand operations you oversee the finance operations of a subsidiary within a globally recognised market leader, working in close collaboration with the local senior leadership team. In addition to overseeing core financial activities, you will support broader corporate functions including working capital management, funding strategies, and intercompany transactions. As a key business partner, you will contribute to strategic initiatives such as pricing, tender development, and critical decision-making. Some of your key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Lead and manage the finance team to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support business objectives.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to the executive team on financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors and financial institutions.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and efficiency improvements.
  • Support decision-making through accurate financial analysis and modelling.

Profile

The successful candidate will ideally have the following:

  • Professional accounting qualifications such as CA or CPA.
  • Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role within the industrial, manufacturing, engineering or logistics sectors would be desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team effectively.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience in leading an ERP implementation would be desirable.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
