Position Summary

Provide a range of technical support services including design and inspection work to MiTek fabricators and other parties (eg. engineers, architects, designers, etc). Other essential functions include:

• Supervision and mentoring of junior engineers.
• Provide training and presentations when required.
• Provide engineering designs, rectifications, software support and site inspections in the field of structural engineering for residential and commercial sectors.
• Assist fabricators in timber engineering and its application including designs, technical matters, NZ Standards, current Codes and in other fields such as steel/concrete.
• Provide design services and technical advice to architects, engineers, builders and others in timber engineering, mainly roof & floor trusses and frames and their application.
• Provide engineering calculations and CAD drawings
• Assist in Product development and testing of new and existing products.
• Review company's technical literature.
• Liaise closely with customers and ensure good relationships are always maintained
• Interact professionally with others, including co-workers, vendors, and customers.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of technical matters relating to the industry

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil or Structural (or equivalent) accredited by Engineering NZ.
• 4+ years postgraduate, with CPEng a bonus.
• Current Driver's License.
• Post-graduate experience in civil or structural engineering including but not limited to:

• Residential and commercial structures

• Structural engineering especially timber design

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D design packages.

• Knowledge of relevant local design codes & standardsapplicable to residential/commercial construction viewed favorably.

• Advanced level experience with MS Word, MS Excel and related programs.
