Jacobs is seeking a
Principal Landscape Architect & Urban Designer
to join our Placemaking team in Auckland. In this senior leadership role, you'll combine technical expertise, strategic thinking, and client engagement to deliver innovative solutions for major and complex projects. You will influence the design and delivery of transformative initiatives, provide leadership that inspires innovation and champions design excellence, and build strong client relationships to secure new opportunities. Working collaboratively across geographies, you'll connect with global experts, contribute to integrated delivery, and access structured career development while mentoring emerging talent.

  • Lead and deliver landscape architecture and urban design solutions for complex placemaking projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and strategic direction, driving innovation and digital delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, anticipating needs and ensuring exceptional service.
  • Support business development, bid preparation, and work-winning activities.
  • Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Promote Jacobs' placemaking offering through industry engagement and thought leadership.

Here's what you'll need

  • Extensive experience in landscape architecture and urban design, with proven leadership on major projects.
  • A strategic and innovative mindset, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across teams and regions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (spoken and written).
  • Detailed knowledge of technical leadership in your discipline and ability to coordinate with related disciplines.
  • Active industry involvement and commitment to thought leadership.
