Ecological Restoration Field Team Member – Rotorua

Full‑Time, Permanent Hourly rate: $26.00 – $28.95

Wildlands is seeking a motivated Ecological Restoration Field Team Member to join our Rotorua branch in a full‑time, permanent position. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about conservation and outdoor work to build a long‑term career in ecological restoration.

About the Role

You will be part of a dedicated field team carrying out ecological restoration tasks, including:

  • Pest plant control
  • Native planting
  • Pest animal control
  • Use of agrichemicals (herbicides), animal toxins, and traps
  • Occasional work in remote areas, including overnight stays in basic accommodation

This role is physically demanding and requires a strong commitment to working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Training and Development

We provide comprehensive on‑the‑job training and mentoring, including:

  • Agrichemical handling (mixing and application)
  • Pest plant control techniques
  • Plant identification
  • Planting methods
  • Hand‑held GPS use
  • Use and maintenance of hand tools

Additional formal training may also be offered, such as:

  • Growsafe certification
  • Controlled Substance Licence
  • Chainsaw operation
  • 4WD
  • LUV/Quad bike training
