Wanted Senior Fleet Tyre Technician

We are seeking a Senior Fleet Tyre Technician to manage and service fleet vehicles effectively, working at customer yards across the Hamilton/Waikato region. This role requires compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of the highest standard of safe and correct tyre fitting and servicing, providing customers with exceptional service, and actively supporting the store team and operations.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Hamilton, Waikato

Salary Guide: $ $30.00 per hour

Work Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week, up to 60 hours. Includes 8-hour shifts, on-call

roster, overtime, public holidays, and weekend availability.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

Fleet & On-Site Service Management

  • Execute all aspects of commercial tyre servicing, fitting, balancing, and repair across a wide range of vehicles, including cars, 4WDs, trucks, buses, forklifts/industrial, earthmoving, agricultural machinery, and more.
  • Manage tyre condition and product application to maximise product life cycle and meet customer needs.
  • Participate in the 24/7 on-call roster, responding to call-outs within a reasonable timeframe while strictly adhering to all Health &Safety (H&S) policies.
  • Maintain the company vehicle to a high standard, tracking and promptly reporting all registration, RUC (Road User Charges), and service requirements.

    Health, Safety & Compliance (NZ Standards)
  • Absolute compliance with all company, customer, ACC, and WorkSafe NZ Health & Safety legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Consistently use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and apply safe work practices for lifting, stacking, storage, and vehicle jacking at all times.
  • Adhere strictly to all rules and practices regarding compressed air and tyre inflation procedures, including the correct use of zippers and split rims.
  • Ensure site safety on and off roads, including adhering to Transit/Police requirements and using hazard/service lights and cones.
  • Follow all customer H&S induction requirements, including sign-in procedures and site-specific rules, and always use & "lock-out" procedures when working on a vehicle.
  • Immediately report all Near Misses, Accidents, and Incidents to the Store Manager and complete required documentation (accident, hazard, and near miss reports).

Workshop, Vehicle &Tool Maintenance

  • Check and maintain all tools and equipment (air tools, sockets, jacks, fitting machines, etc.) in both the store and the service vehicle, promptly informing management of any out-of-order or unsafe items.
  • Maintain the store and work as a team member, providing in-store sales and service support as required.

Administration & Stock Control

  • Complete all required paperwork, including accurate job cards for every job, daily for processing.
  • Ensure all commercial vehicle jobs have a torque sticker applied, and the driver is informed of their retorqueing responsibilities.
  • Assist with stock control including stocktakes, informing the relevant person of any shortages, and correctly identifying and ticketing retread cases.
  • Accurately complete and submit timesheets and correctly input data into computer systems as required.

Required Experience & Competencies

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven work experience in Commercial Tyre Fitting (required).
  • Must hold a Full and Current NZ Driver's Licence or equivalent (required).
  • Demonstrated tyre fitting competencies across all major commercial and agricultural vehicle types.
  • Comprehensive understanding of NZ Health & Safety Legislation and practical application within the industry.
