Position Objective:

To ensure accessible, high-quality service delivery for women and children who have experienced or are at risk of family violence. Advocates play a vital role in providing professional, best-practice support to whānau across all service areas within the Women's Refuge Tamaki Makaurau catchment, adhering to the organisation's Code of Conduct, Behavior, and Ethics.

Purpose:

The mission of Women's Refuge Tamaki Makaurau is to offer safe and supportive services to women and their children who are victims of physical, emotional, mental, or sexual abuse. This includes providing emergency and temporary accommodation alongside comprehensive community support.

About the Role:

As an Advocate for Women's Refuge Tamaki Makaurau, you will:

  • Operate within the organisation's philosophy and service framework.
  • Provide education to the community about family violence.
  • Support the Practice Lead in delivering high-quality refuge services.
  • Help ensure the provision of safe, accessible sanctuaries for women and children in need.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Registration as a Social Worker or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Māori kaupapa and tikanga.
  • Fluency or proficiency in Te Reo Māori is an advantage.
  • A thorough understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, with evidence of its application in practice.
  • You will need a NZDL either full or restricted.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the 24-hour crisis telephone roster.
