Development Chemist

About the role

As a Development Chemist at Chemical Packers Limited, you will play a key role in driving innovation and improving our product offerings. This full-time position is based in our manufacturing facility in East Tamaki, Auckland. You will work closely with our Management and Manufacturing team to develop new and improved chemical products, ensuring they meet the highest quality and safety standards.

What you'll be doing

1. Conduct research and development activities to create new and improved chemical formulas and products
2. Perform product testing and analysis to ensure products meet all relevant quality, safety, and regulatory standards
3. Collaborate with the production team to transfer new products and processes to manufacturing
4. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to inform product development
5. Assist in effectively implementing and managing quality and compliance systems (ISO, Hazardous Substances, BioGro, Halal, etc)
6. Document all research, testing, and development activities to support product launch and continuous improvement
7. Contribute to the continuous improvement of lab processes and equipment

What we're looking for

1. Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience in Organic Chemistry
2. 3+ years of experience in product development, ideally in the chemical or manufacturing industry
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data
4. Excellent attention to detail and a positive, solution focused attitude
5. Ability to manage multiple tasks while under pressure to meet all deadlines, working in a methodical and thorough manner
6. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate technical information effectively
7. Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards
