About the role

We are looking for a New Home Consultant to join our team in 2026

This is a full-time, showroom/office based New Home Consultant position at Golden Homes Taranaki in New Plymouth. As a New Home Consultant, you will be responsible for guiding prospective clients through the process and benefits of building their dream home with Golden Homes. Your role will be crucial in driving sales and supporting the overall growth objectives of our business. The hours will be varied, there will be evenings as well as weekend work, however you will reap the rewards that can be achieved.

What you'll be doing

  1. Engaging with potential customers, understanding their needs and requirements, and providing expert advice and solutions on their home design and building process
  2. Working closely with our in-house designer to create your clients their dream home
  3. Creating cost estimates to present to customers, negotiating contracts and finalising sales
  4. Compiling documentation and paperwork for our architectural design team
  5. Coordinating with our construction and project management teams to ensure a seamless build process for clients
  6. Maintaining a strong pipeline of leads and actively prospecting for new business opportunities
  7. Providing excellent customer service throughout the entire client journey
  8. Contributing to the overall sales and marketing strategies of the business

What we're looking for

  1. Proven experience in a new home sales or consultative sales role, preferably within the construction/real estate industry (not essential however preferred)
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with and influence customers
  3. Strong problem-solving and negotiation abilities to close sales and deliver customer satisfaction
  4. Familiar with residential construction processes and building standards to provide informed guidance to clients
  5. Passion for creating exceptional customer experiences and delivering high-quality service
  6. Proficient in using sales enablement tools and CRM software to manage the sales pipeline

This is a self-employed independent contract role, where you are remunerated for successful new build sales; a retainer will be provided for the right candidate during the training period.
